RECESS MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 6, 2002

 

 

A Recess Meeting of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs was called to order by Mayor Ainsworth at 6:00 p.m. on September 6, 2002, at City Hall in the City of Ocean Springs.  Present were Aldermen Jalanivich, Lloyd, McDonnell, Cody, Carvin, Dalgo and Gill, and City Clerk Adrienne Howell.  City Attorney Oscar Jordan was absent.

 

Public Works Director Alderman Kaufman reported that Jackson County had agreed to participate in the cost of the Hanley Rd./Government St. 3-laning project to the extent of $54,000.00 and requested the Board approve the Interlocal Governmental Agreement with Jackson County and authorize the Mayor to sign it.

 

(Interlocal Agreement – Hanley Rd./Government St. Intersection Improvement Project -  $54,000.00)

 

Motion by Jalanivich, seconded by Dalgo, to approve the Interlocal Governmental Agreement between the City of Ocean Springs and Jackson County regarding the Hanley Rd./Government St. Intersection Improvement Project and Jackson County’s $54,000.00 participation in the construction cost, and authorize the Mayor to execute said agreement on behalf of the City.

At this time Jackson County Supervisor Frank Leach addressed the Board regarding the Shearwater Bridge Replacement Project.  He stated that the Board of Supervisors had authorized an increase in their share of the construction cost to $167,055.00, which is ˝ of the City’s cost.  He advised that the original agreement with the City would need to be modified to reflect the increase, and added that upon modification and approval of the agreement, the City would receive an initial payment of $75,000.00 and the remaining funds in February 2003.

 

Motion by McDonnell, seconded by Dalgo, to authorize the Mayor to sign the modified Interlocal Agreement with Jackson County upon receipt.

At this time Mayor Ainsworth opened the public hearing regarding the proposed budget for FYE 2003.  The City Clerk stated that she had received no written comments concerning the budget.  Mayor Ainsworth then solicited comments from the audience, however none were received and the public hearing was declared closed.

 

Motion by Jalanivich, seconded by Carvin, to recess until 6:00 p.m. on September 13, 2002,
