A Special Call Meeting of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Ocean Springs was called to order by Mayor Ainsworth at 7:00 p.m. on September 28, 1999, at City Hall in the City of Ocean Springs. Present were Aldermen Jalanivich, Garrard, McDonnell, Cody and Cosper, City Attorney Oscar Jordan and City Clerk Adrienne Howell. Aldermen McKay and Gill were absent.

Mayor Ainsworth read aloud the following Special Call:

Motion by McDonnell, seconded by Jalanivich, to go into Closed Session to determine the necessity for an Executive Session.

Motion by Cody, seconded by McDonnell, to go into Executive Session to discuss personnel matters in the Public Works, Fire, Police, Planning, and Supervision and Finance Departments.

The City Clerk announced to the audience that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen had elected to go into Executive Session to discuss personnel matters.

After approximately 45 minutes the Executive Session ended and the following motion was made:

Motion by McDonnell, seconded by Jalanivich, to resume the Regular Session.

Motion by Cody, seconded by McDonnell, to accept the City Clerk’s recommendation to hire Karen B. Adams as Accountant, effective October 1, 1999, at Band 6/Step 1 of the salary scale ($13.08) and place her on six months probation.

Motion by Cosper, seconded by Jalanivich, to approve the Department Heads’ recommendations regarding annual raises and merit raises for their employees as submitted to the Board and to make the raises effective the first biweekly payroll in October 1999.
